Despite its semi-rural character, Caterham is extremely well positioned for road and rail travel, and this is one of the major benefits of living in the town. It is less than ten minutes' drive to the M25 via the A22, joining the motorway at junction 6. One junction to the west is the M23 for Brighton and Gatwick, and to the east it is only a short distance to the M20 for Kent and the coast. Other M25 connections include Heathrow, the A3, M3 and Dartford Crossing.

From Caterham station you have the choice of two London destinations, Victoria or London Bridge, both taking about 45-50 minutes. There’s also a service to East Croydon of about 20 minutes. For a slightly faster journey to London Bridge of 28 minutes, it can be worth driving to nearby Coulsdon South station.

Buses run through Caterham to points all over Surrey, including Sutton, Croydon, Coulsdon, Reigate and Redhill.
